Whisper.net models

Versioned model files and encoders for Whisper.net, the .NET bindings for whisper.cpp. This repository distributes model artifacts, not the Whisper.net runtime packages.

Licenses depend on the model family. In particular, the Parakeet weights are CC-BY-4.0, not MIT. See licenses and attribution before using or redistributing the models.

Whisper and Parakeet models require their respective native engines; they are not interchangeable. Refer to the Whisper.net documentation for runtime selection and model-loading examples.

Versioned downloads

Use a released revision rather than the moving main branch for reproducible downloads. The v5 snapshot includes Parakeet alongside the existing Whisper, encoder, and VAD files, whose bytes are unchanged from v4. Older revisions remain available for existing applications.

Whisper.net's WhisperGgmlDownloader selects the model revision appropriate to the library release. Published version refs must not be moved: changes to model bytes require a new version, not replacement of files in an existing release.

Licenses and attribution

This repository contains artifacts from multiple projects. The Whisper.net library's MIT license does not automatically apply to every model it can load, and conversion or quantization does not remove the original model's license obligations. The repository-level metadata therefore uses model-specific rather than labeling all files MIT.

The existing Whisper, encoder, and Silero artifacts retain their existing licenses; this update does not relicense them. Consult the original OpenAI Whisper and Silero VAD projects for their license notices and model documentation.

Parakeet

The original NVIDIA Parakeet TDT 0.6B v3 weights are published by NVIDIA under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC-BY-4.0). See the original model card for intended uses and limitations.

The files here are byte-for-byte mirrors of conversions and quantizations from ggml-org/parakeet-GGUF. That conversion repository declares MIT, but this does not replace the CC-BY-4.0 obligations for NVIDIA's weights. This mirror makes no further changes to the converted model bytes.

When redistributing these models, preserve the attribution to NVIDIA and ggml-org, the applicable license notices and links, and the description of conversion/quantization changes. Mirroring does not imply endorsement by NVIDIA or ggml-org.

The Parakeet README records the pinned source revision and detailed attribution. Its manifest includes file sizes and SHA-256 hashes for verifying the downloaded artifacts.
