Akaike AI: News Summarization & Hindi TTS App

This is a web-based application built for the Akaike Internship Assignment. It extracts news articles related to a company, performs sentiment and comparative analysis, and generates a Hindi audio summary using an open-source TTS model.

🛠️ Setup Instructions

1. Clone the repository:

git clone https://github.com/yourusername/akaike-news-app.git
cd akaike-news-app

2. Create virtual environment:

2.1 If using virtualenv:

python -m venv venv
source venv/bin/activate  # On Windows use venv\Scripts\activate

2.2 If using conda:

conda create -n akaike python=3.12
conda activate akaike

3. Install dependencies:

pip install -r requirements.txt

4. Set environment variables:

Create a .env file in the root folder with the following:

OPENAI_API_KEY=your_openai_key
SERPER_API_KEY=your_serper_key

5. Run API server:

uvicorn api:app --reload

6. Run Streamlit app:

streamlit run app.py

🌐 Hugging Face Spaces Deployment

• Ensure requirements.txt and all files are committed
• Push to a public GitHub repo
• Create a new Space on Hugging Face with type: Gradio/Streamlit
• Connect your repo and deploy!

📌 Assumptions & Limitations

• News content scraping may fail for JS-heavy sites
• Hindi TTS works best with simple sentence structures
• Only 10 articles are selected for analysis
