abhayesian/ryan-greenblatt-mix-comment-deduped-8b-base-v1
ryan-greenblatt-mix-comment-deduped-8b-base-v1 is a text generation model from abhayesian. Use it when you need the model to write or continue text. It is set up for peft. The card lists the license as mit.

From the Hugging Face model README
Role: PRIMARY Ryan-recipe (canonical 8B winner).
This repo hosts the LoRA adapter weights (PEFT format,
adapter_model.safetensors + adapter_config.json) for one of the
four Ryan-Greenblatt-simulator segment-20 release checkpoints.
Qwen/Qwen3-8B-Base.[5e-5, 1e-4, 2e-4, 8e-4]; pre-reg in writeups/sft_lr_winner_preregistration.md).abhayesian/ryan-greenblatt-sft-mix-comment-deduped (1,349 train / 72 val (comment-heavy dedup mixture)).8a22936b-352f-50ff-9820-67ad5f3ba4b3 (training run; sampler weights at step 300).tinker://8a22936b-352f-50ff-9820-67ad5f3ba4b3:train:0/weights/step300tinker://8a22936b-352f-50ff-9820-67ad5f3ba4b3:train:0/sampler_weights/sampler-step300This is a standard PEFT LoRA adapter for Qwen/Qwen3-8B-Base. Load
with vLLM (--lora-modules), SGLang (--lora-paths), or any
HuggingFace-compatible inference framework:
from peft import PeftModel
from transformers import AutoModelForCausalLM, AutoTokenizer
base = AutoModelForCausalLM.from_pretrained(
"Qwen/Qwen3-8B-Base", torch_dtype="bfloat16", device_map="auto",
)
model = PeftModel.from_pretrained(base, "abhayesian/ryan-greenblatt-mix-comment-deduped-8b-base-v1")
tokenizer = AutoTokenizer.from_pretrained("Qwen/Qwen3-8B-Base")
If you want to retrain from scratch rather than load this adapter:
pip install tinker tinker-cookbook.tinker.ServiceClient.create_lora_training_client with
base_model="Qwen/Qwen3-8B-Base" and LoRA rank 16.abhayesian/ryan-greenblatt-sft-mix-comment-deduped for 3 epochs at lr=2e-4, batch size 8, seed 0; checkpoint cadence 100; pick the step at the listed val-loss minimum.The originating project repo also has end-to-end scripts (run_sft.py,
run_sft_grid.py) that orchestrate the training run.
Headline evals (final-report § 4 / 5 / 7):
wrong_author_buck_prompted_on_tinker_raw (n=25):
WR 0.930 [0.850, 0.990] style; WR 0.805 [0.695, 0.905] substance —
the cleanest cross-author Ryan-specific positive.RP_tinker_raw (n=25): WR 0.813
[0.720, 0.907].RP_tinker_raw
(n=16): WR 0.479 [0.323, 0.646] — TIED. Substance lift does NOT
generalize from V1 to fresh leakage-controlled anchors.Viability (vs apples-to-apples Tinker raw Qwen3-8B-Base;
segment-6 unrelaxed rule): (a) Substance PASS (pairwise WR 0.920
[0.853, 0.980], rubric Δ +0.022 [−0.020, +0.064]); (b) Lexical PASS
(4/4 lexical-direction movements correct); (c) Pathology PASS (0%
short-output, 0% handle-leak, 0% refuse).
Viability rule reference: writeups/segment6_preregistration.md
defines the unrelaxed segment-6 viability rule (a) substance, (b)
lexical, (c) pathology against the apples-to-apples Tinker raw
Qwen3-8B-Base comparator. Per-checkpoint verdicts are in
results/segment6_viable_verdict_v2.md and the segment-19 spot-audit
section (a). The two Ryan-recipe checkpoints in this release pass the
unrelaxed rule.
The 8 load-bearing methodology caveats (see § 9 of the final report at
writeups/final_report_segment20.md for the full verbatim text;
short-form here for length):
Forbidden-claim list (short form, NOT-1 through NOT-12) — downstream
users should NOT cite these models / datasets in support of any of the
following (full text in writeups/segment19_publish_preregistration.md
§ b):
Operational caveat: Ryan-SFT can fabricate LessWrong post URLs at ~10% rate at the 8B endpoint and ~13% at the 30B-A3B endpoint. Always validate any cited URLs before trusting them.
